Hi. I’m Chad Olivier, certified financial planner and CEO of Olivier Group. Summertime might be the perfect time to get both your house and your finances in order. Yes, the days are longer and definitely hotter, but this could be the right season to slow down, take inventory, and simplify your life.
I think we’ve all done this before. Searching the house for something we know we already own, getting frustrated, pulling out the phone, and ordering another one online. Then a week later, we find the original item sitting in a drawer or closet. It’s funny, but it also reminds us how easy it is to lose track of what we have and what we spend.
The same thing can happen with our finances. Summer can be a great time to review your credit card statements, bank accounts, subscriptions, insurance policies, and investment accounts. Look closely at where your hard earned money is going every month. You may find recurring charges for services you no longer use, streaming subscriptions you forgot about, or memberships that no longer add value to your life.
This is also a good time to review your investment accounts and financial goals. Ask yourself if your investments still match your risk tolerance, your time horizon, and your retirement goals. Markets change, interest rates change, and life changes. So your financial plan should evolve as well.
You may also want to organize important documents like wills, trusts, passwords, insurance information, and beneficiary designations. Many people spend years building wealth but fail to keep their financial house organized. A little preparation today may save your family a lot of stress later on. Sometimes the best financial move is not adding more.
It’s simplifying, organizing, and becoming intentional with what you already have.
So this summer, take a little time to clean out the clutter, reset your priorities, and get both your house and your finances in order. If you need help organizing your financial life, contact one of our certified financial planners at Olivier Group, and that’s why money talks, but planning pays.
